Office of Legislative and Intergovernmental Affairs

The Office of Legislative and Intergovernmental Affairs (OLIA) serves as the liaison between the SEC and Congress. The Office is responsible for responding to requests from Congress for information related to agency programs and legislation affecting the SEC. OLIA also coordinates the testimony of SEC officials when the agency is asked to testify at Congressional hearings.

In addition, OLIA staff monitor ongoing legislative activities and initiatives in Congress that may affect the agency and its mission. The Office is responsible for developing legislative strategy and working with SEC and Congressional staff to provide technical assistance and other information. OLIA also acts as liaison for the Commission with other federal agencies and state governments.
